Description
Putul means doll, and this one has a face you will want to keep looking at: a tiny brass lady with a patterned headdress, curled ear ornaments and a saree drawn across her shoulder. She is cast in dokra, Bengal’s lost-wax brass craft, where every piece starts as its own wax model, so no two putuls ever come out quite the same. She hangs from two black thread knots on soft braided maroon cotton cords, and comes with a pair of leaf-shaped brass earrings finished with a little spiral. Handpicked from Santiniketan for Jhaapi, she makes a plain taant saree or a simple kurta feel ready for the evening.
