A little care keeps your Jhaapi treasures looking beautiful for years.
01
Terracotta
Keep dry and away from perfume and water. Store in the pouch. It is fired clay, so avoid dropping it.
02
Dokra and brass
Wipe with a soft dry cloth after wearing and store in an airtight pouch to slow tarnishing. A little tamarind paste brings back the shine on plain brass.
03
Cowrie and shell
Keep away from water and store flat so the thread doesn’t stretch.
04
Fabric and thread
Don’t wash. Spot clean gently with a damp cloth and let it dry fully.
05
Wood and natural
Keep dry and out of direct sunlight, which can fade the colour.
06
Oxidised metal
Keep away from moisture and perfume. Store pieces separately so they don’t scratch each other.
Everyday tips
Put jewellery on last, after perfume, lotion and hairspray.
Take it off before bathing, swimming or exercising.
Store each piece in its own pouch or in your jhaapi.
Handmade colours can fade in strong sunlight, so store pieces away from windows.
